As the 2024 brass banding season started, the band decided to enter the North East Midlands Contest. A great opportunity to perform this year's area piece "Music for Jock Tamson" out in public. 

The band travelled over to The Post Mill Centre, South Normanton, in order to give their rendition of the Alan Fernie piece.

Being drawn first, the band had to put their best foot forward straight away and listen to the other bands in the contest. 

Adjudicator John Roberts gave the band complimentary remarks on the performance and the band came away with its first silverware in many years. 

The band placed 1st place in the Fourth Section and our principal cornet Chris Emblen won the "Best Cornet" award.
