On 10th March 2024, the band competed at the Midlands Area Contest 2024, held at the Corby Business Academy.

The band had an early draw playing third, where they gave a successful performance of "Music for Jock Tamson" by Alan Fernie. 

After the performance the band had a nerve wrecking wait for the results. Adjudicators Chris Wormald and Jack Capstaff were impressed with the band's rendition and placed the Whitwell Brass Band 1st place. The first time at an area contest in 15 years.

The band would like to thank their friends at A.W. Lymn Centenary Foundation for the support towards the cost of travel on the day and Johnson Bros for providing a first class service and driver.
